E Diomede lanciò tre giganteschi massi, da cui nacquero le isole Tremiti.
“Com’è profondo il mare”, scriveva Lucio Dalla. Lui, che alle isole Tremiti aveva stabilito il suo personale ritiro, è riuscito a descrivere con grande intensità “quello scherzo di terra” dove da millenni si affaticano esseri umani per difendere quello scoglio isolato. Le tre isole di San Nicola, San Domino e Capraia quasi si toccano, ma poi i loro lembi di terra fuggono nelle tre direzioni opposte e mostrano l’un l’altra le proprie differenze. Questi tre scogli racchiudono così in un solo arcipelago l’intensa bellezza, la malinconia e l’asprezza del Mediterraneo.

He, one of the most talented and inspired italian songwriter, who had established his personal retreat on the Tremiti islands, managed to describe with great intensity ‘that joke of a land‘ where human beings have laboured for millennia to defend that isolated rock. The three islands of San Nicola, San Domino and Capraia almost touch each other, but then their strips of land run off in three opposite directions and show each other their differences. These three rocks thus encapsulate the intense beauty, melancholy and harshness of the Mediterranean in a single archipelago.

Un workshop in mezzo al mare
Le isole Tremiti sono un arcipelago del mare Adriatico, a 22 km a nord del promontorio del Gargano e 45 km a est da Termoli. Queste isole, seppur in una posizione geografica marginale, hanno una loro epopea unica che ha attraversato a pieno la storia del nostro paese. L’isola di San Nicola fu colonizzata sin dal I millennio a.C., ma fu solo in epoca romana che divenne un insediamento stabile. La stratificazione di culture e società ha attraversato i secoli, facendo giungere sino a noi un’abbazia arroccata e difesa da alti bastioni a picco sul mare. Quel mare da cui inglesi e turchi tentarono l’assalto, quello stesso mare da cui il confinato Sandro Pertini poteva scorgere lontano il tacco d’Italia. «Queste isole sono così ricche di storia, di cultura e di leggende che vale la pena conoscerle per poterne godere a piene mani.» Lucio Dalla (maggio 2002).

Progettare è facile quando si sa come fare
Durante questa esperienza immersiva i partecipanti avranno la possibilità di confrontarsi con i tutor per realizzare un progetto personale ben strutturato, raccontando il territorio dove si svilupperà il nostro lavoro. Lo scopo di questo workshop è quello di fornire ai partecipanti gli strumenti di base per costruire un racconto per immagini, aiutando ognuno a sviluppare la propria identità fotografica e trovare il proprio linguaggio visuale. Partendo dal presupposto che “creatività non significa improvvisazione senza metodo” (Bruno Munari), capiremo come invece un solido metodo possa stimolare la nostra creatività ed aiutarci ad entrare in contatto col proprio mondo interiore. Progettualità, quindi, come percorso di conoscenza del mondo sensibile e di quello sottile, del proprio lavoro e del proprio io.

A workshop in the middle of the sea
The Tremiti Islands are an archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, 22 km north of the Gargano promontory and 45 km east of Termoli. These islands, although in a marginal geographic position, have their own unique epic that has spanned the history of our country. The island of San Nicola was colonised as early as the first millennium B.C., but it was only in Roman times that it became a permanent settlement. The stratification of cultures and societies spanned the centuries, bringing to us an abbey perched and defended by high bastions overlooking the sea. That sea from which the British and the Turks attempted an assault, that same sea from which the confined Sandro Pertini could see the heel of Italy in the distance. “These islands are so rich in history, culture and legends that it is worth getting to know them in order to enjoy them to the full.“ Lucio Dalla (May 2002)

Designing is easy when you know how
During this immersive experience participants will have the opportunity to confront themselves with tutors in order to realise a well-structured personal project, telling the story of the territory where our work will be developed. The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with the basic tools for constructing a story through images, helping everyone to develop their own photographic identity and find their own visual language. Starting from the assumption that “creativity does not mean improvisation without method” (Bruno Munari), we will understand how instead a solid method can stimulate our creativity and help us get in touch with our inner world. Planning, therefore, as a path to knowledge of the sensitive and subtle worlds, of one’s own work and self.
