THE MEMORY OF ICE

A documentary project on the vulnerability of glaciers, the preservation of their memory and the reflection of this climate crisis on our lives

“Glaciers are true sentinels, holders of a wealth of data that helps us understand and trace both climate and environmental events throughout several centuries or even millen- nia”. With climate change, glaciers and Polar ices are endangered archives. It is essential to safeguard them as they allow us to understand previous environments which will help us anticipate future changes.

This is the story of a unique scientific expedition to save the memory of the ice.

A race against time as more than 20 glaciers worldwide could disappear completely within the next 20 to 30 years. The Svalbard archipelago is one of the world’s fastest warming regions, and its glaciers are under serious threat.
Glaciers contain the memory of our planet, and the Ice Memory project aims to preserve all these high-quality ice cores to continue the research of future generations of scientists.
